Nobody & Friends zet 10 boeiende kunstenaressen in de kijker tijdens de zomer 2021.
Je bent welkom van donderdag tot zondag van 12.00u tot 18.00 of op afspraak.
Born in May 1968 and painting since 2011.
Intuitive painting is her outlet, a passion, pure self-care.
Each work has its own story, originated intuitively… from a white blank canvas, hardboard or sheet of paper.
The works are made with passion, desire, empathy, pleasure, subdued and also exuberant, at home and on location.
Wittoeck.art saw the light of day in 2020, a website with a webshop where you can view her works.
Kaatje mainly works with two media.
She finishes her charcoal drawings with hands and fingers, this way of working feels earthy and authentic to her.
On canvas she usually uses oil paint for its color intensity and fluidity. She mainly creates character heads or fictional scenes where the viewer can imagine their own story. It is an invitation to stir the subconscious of the viewer.
Kaatje exhibited at home and abroad, but for the first time at Nobody&Friends from 8 to 11 May 2025.
Gerry draws a lot of inspiration from her personal life. She has turned her hobby interior into her profession, which in turn provides inspiration for her great passion for painting.
In addition, she is interested in people as individuals. There is a personal story behind every person. By merging these data or people in their environment, she tries to evoke the emotion of a certain moment or situation with her paintings. Her work is characterized by loose brushwork and is based on classical techniques.
Gerry already exhibited at Nobody&Friends in November 2022.
For Martine Cuyvers, painting is a creative process of self-discovery that is converted into something tangible. Searching for her purest self in a state of complete freedom and childlike wonder. A quest for purpose and identity.
Her paintings are abstract, suggestive and always layered in structure and color. Sometimes stark in black and white, sometimes flowing and intensely colored. Open to free interpretation by the viewer.
Her gallery Nobody&Friends is a platform where affordable art from established and upcoming visual artists is exhibited in an accessible manner. She is also business director of Alden Biesen Zomeropera, an opera festival that takes place every year in the months of May and June in the Landcommanderij Alden Biesen in Bilzen-Hoeselt in Limburg.
Yvette Adriaens lives in Zoutleeuw
After she completed a full art education in Sint-Truiden,
Yvette is currently perfecting herself as a painter at the academy in Tongeren.
Her painting reflects her awareness of the beauty of the growing as well as the ephemeral in nature.
She has an irresistible urge to explore seemingly insignificant micro things in macro format.
That is her way of transforming things and elevating the most banal into art.
Erik Scheirlinckx's creations reveal a harmony between realism and imagination. He is constantly looking for a look that inspires, an expression of emotion. The viewer initially experiences the visual, where the choice of color consciously or unconsciously has an impact. Upon closer inspection, the portrait is guaranteed to evoke emotions.
It was of course inevitable that digital work would be introduced at this time. The “digital art portraits” are drawn freehand on a tablet, they are averse to pre-programmed effects. The result is printed on high-quality plexiglass.
Erik is a guest artist from May 11 to June 16, 2024.
Daniel Derderian's work is a unique cry for love from a safe environment behind the mirror. As a former classical dancer and performer in the world of the performing arts, he previously mainly worked with his appearance. Now he compiles idiosyncratic portraits that try to capture the confusion and vanity of human existence.
Daniel works from an urgency, torn between the moral brake of an adult and the unbounded imagination of a rambunctious child. He wants to keep something unfinished in his work, completion would mean the end of a dynamic.
He wants to capture his subjects in an intimate moment, in search of their strength, their fragility, their fear, their fantasies, as hybrid creatures in a world between reality and dream.
Since his first exhibition at Nobody & Friend in September 2022, Daniel has exhibited solo and in group at Galerie Thomé in Paris where he is now a resident artist and is part of the collective Le Destructuralisme Figuratif with which he exhibited in La Rochelle and Paris.
He works and lives between Montreuil near Paris, Ghent and Marseille, his hometown.
Daniel has been a permanent artist at Nobody&Friends since January 2024. A selection of his oeuvre is on permanent display in the gallery.
From April 3 to 20, 2025, he will exhibit solo in the smaller part of the gallery.
Capturing the world, one artwork at a time
In the paintings of Nicole S. Pousset you will always find a soft, feminine undertone. Her portraits and landscapes are poetic and convey a hopeful, positive message. Something beautiful is just around the corner, sometime in the future. It is up to the viewer to fill in the blanks. An invitation to look further, to pause and reflect.
Christina has always had a fascination with faces and drawing them, looking for the soul and expression in the eyes.
Her current job brings her into frequent contact with people from other origins. People of African, Oriental and Latin origins. People with courageous stories. Hence the idea to create a new series of African portraits with acrylic and pencil. The combination of cobalt blue and black, the playing effect between light and shadow and the details make them look almost realistic photos.
Christina, together with her husband, sculptor Alain Lodewijckx, exhibited from March 6 to 16, 2025.
Philip Verhoeven was spoon-fed art from an early age. He grew up in his parents' antique shop and started drawing at a young age.
The discovery of figurative art and his passion for color, graphics, history and music caused him to develop his own style. His works reflect his positive outlook on life.
Philip's paintings are exhibited in Brooklyn, New York, in London he is represented by Miart Gallery and in Philadelphia by Morton Contemporary. In February 2024 he will be a guest at the Art Wynwood Miami art fair.
Joran Pollet (1993) graduated from Sint-Lucas Ghent in 2012 and then followed photography for a year (Narafi Brussels). However, it is the one-year course in decorative ironwork (GOCA Ghent) that forms the crucial stepping stone in his artistic development towards what he creates today. At that time Joran is 23 years old. Joran Pollet is a man of few words. His images are all the more powerful.
With hammer and anvil he beats pieces of pure steel into the desired shape. Then he starts welding. Without molds or preliminary studies.
